Kayla Steltenkamp has been a member of IDA-KY for 3 years. Recently she completed her PhD in the area of Education and Social Change with a research emphasis on teacher knowledge of dyslexia. She is passionate about helping others understand dyslexia and begin to implement change for our future readers in Kentucky. Kayla also works as a professor at the university level in the special education department.
Jamie L. Miller
Jamie L. Miller is the district level Elementary ECS Instructional Coach for Oldham County Schools. With twenty years of classroom, consulting, and coaching experience, she received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and minor in the area of Learning Disabilities from Purdue University. She received her Master’s degree in Educational Technology and Instructional Design from San Diego State University. Her primary focus is to support teachers, parents, and students by utilizing her expertise and training in the Multisensory Approach to Reading Success (MARS), The Language Tool Kit, Orton-Gillingham, and Reading Recovery Literacy Lessons. In recent years. Jamie serves as a member of Oldham County’s Dyslexia Task Force and has reached out to key community experts and parents in partnership. She believes that partnering and collaborating with these stakeholders is a key component in promoting the objectives set forth by IDA. Her goal is to have everyone working together and moving toward real solutions will bring the changes she wishes to see .. A Future Full of Readers!
